Consumers Power Inc.

Project
Consumers Power Incorporated (CPI), a nonprofit rural electric cooperative based in Philomath, Oregon, needed to renovate their aging headquarters to accommodate and energize an evolving workforce. It was an extensive renovation, with a complete redesign of the building’s interior, along with a new exterior facade, landscaping, and a structural seismic upgrade. A core project goal was bringing together the office and field staff, who had been stationed at opposite ends of the building. In the new design, strategic adjacencies between departments were introduced, along with a renewed sense of...Learn more

KOIN Tower Leasing Center

Project
Mackenzie is leading KOIN Tower, an iconic building in downtown Portland, through an extensive renovation that has resulted in a renewed brand and sense of local connection. An integral part of this complex project is the Tower’s Leasing Center on the 11th floor, which introduces the building’s brand and amenities to prospective tenants. The Leasing Center needed to elegantly illustrate two things: KOIN’s brand story, and the physical fundamentals of an occupant’s experience of the building. By carefully thinking through these two distinct—but basically connected—elements, Mackenzie was able...Learn more

Ferguson Wellman

Project
Ferguson Wellman, a leading regional financial management firm, enlisted Mackenzie to update their Portland headquarters. Balance was important: our objective was a forward-looking design that sustained traditional elements reflective of the company’s longstanding and successful culture, while embracing the future as new leadership naturally emerges in the firm. The new workplace needed to embody the traits that Ferguson Wellman value: stability, continuity, and clarity. A trend-chasing or revolutionary change in their workplace wouldn’t be in their best interest. Instead, Mackenzie...Learn more

Mackenzie Office - Vancouver

Project
Mackenzie’s Vancouver office, in the newly constructed Hudson Building (also designed by Mackenzie), serves as an example of our workplace design strategy, which focuses on employee wellbeing and engagement. The design seeks to support Mackenzie’s evolving culture while also providing an immersive example of our work to our clients. We achieved these overarching goals via several complementary design strategies: • Opportunities for different modes work and posture offer choice and control to the staff; • Large operable windows and 15’ ceilings offer access to natural light and fresh air; •...Learn more

Yakima

Project
Yakima, the iconic maker of bike racks and car top cargo carriers, needed a new corporate headquarters, and tasked Mackenzie with delivering it as fast as possible. Yakima closed on their new Lake Oswego space in late August, and the extensive remodel, which entailed 60,000 SF, was ready for move-in by December 1st. Mackenzie approached the project from the earliest stages in close strategic collaboration with the builder, with every step of the project closely calibrated to ensure that the design could be executed on time—this partnership was a key ingredient in the project’s success. NAVEX

Project
NAVEX Global, a rapidly growing ethics and compliance company, needed a new corporate headquarters that reflected the company’s culture and brand, and could accommodate a larger workforce. Through a collaborative process, Mackenzie designed a creative workspace that’s responsive to the nuances of NAVEX’s philosophy and guiding principles. Their new space is livable, and marked by a sense of transparency and connectivity: it’s a creative office thoroughly informed by the ideals and aspirations of the people who use it. The project entailed a major tenant improvement of 50,000 SF in the top two...Learn more

Jantzen Building

Project
The Jantzen Building, completed in 1946 and designed by local architect Richard Sundeleaf, sits on Northeast Glisan Street at 20th Avenue. Mackenzie was tasked with giving the landmark, formerly known as the Jantzen Knitting Mills Building, a new identity that would position it as a dynamic and creative office environment for current and future tenants. To satisfy the criteria of the City’s historic resource review process, the design team took cues from the building’s historic characteristics and responded by revealing the existing structure in order to celebrate its architectural legacy...Learn more

The 100 at Park Square

Project
Located in Portland’s SoMa (South of Market) EcoDistrict, The 100 at Park Square draws inspiration from its downtown Portland location and creates unique amenities for tenants and visitors. Mackenzie was tasked with designing a multifunctional, hospitality-like space that accommodates office employees, visitors, and the public. The Great Room, which serves as the main lobby, and the patio spaces are extensions of the building’s offices and form a dynamic space for working, collaborating, relaxing, and socializing. Mackenzie provided architectural, structural, interiors, and landscaping...Learn more

Cambia Grove

Project
Cambia Health Solutions commissioned Mackenzie to design and implement a new workplace for its office at the 1800 building on 9th Avenue in Seattle, Washington. This involved taking a typical office environment and transforming it into a business incubator that inspires creative collaboration and problem-solving for the healthcare industry. To make this happen, Mackenzie utilized an integrated design approach and their expertise in creative office design. Mackenzie designed Cambia’s vision for the new 9,000 SF collaborative work environment through innovations in architecture, interior design...Learn more

The Hudson Building

Project
As the first newly constructed office building in recent memory in downtown Vancouver, Washington, the Hudson serves as bridge between the community’s rich history and promising future. The design, both exterior and interior, reflects this unique position. The building’s brick is structural—it’s not simply skinned with a brick façade, like many contemporary buildings—and its clean, elegant aesthetic is a seamless match with neighboring historic buildings. A particular point of pride for Mackenzie is the role the Hudson is playing as cornerstone in the ongoing revitalization of downtown...Learn more
